Manorama's request for the new legislation

Veteran comedian Manorama recently met the Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi, the Deputy CM MK Stalin and the State Health Minister MRK Paneerselvam to stress on the need to bring in a new legislation making health and fitness certificate mandatory for a men and women entering the wedlock.

The actress stated in a press meet held yesterday (September 14th), that she is all set to start a movement to protect women from impotent men and those affected with AIDS. Manorama said that she would soon commence a state tour to create awareness among the public especially among women. The lady also intends to go on a signature campaign to stress on her cause.

Vijay's quiet on Rahul visit

Looks like Rahul Gandhi’s Tamil Nadu visit has evinced as much interest among politicians as it had on Vijay’s meeting with the Congress General Secretary a while ago in Delhi. Although it was widely speculated that Vijay would join the Congress party, no confirmed news was made available after the meeting.

Rahul is now touring Tamil Nadu and is expected to attend a conference in Coimbatore today addressing his party members. Congress sources aver that Vijay will join the party officially tomorrow in Coimbatore on the occasion. However, no official announcement is available from the Vijay stable as yet in this regard.

Bar Facilities at Theatres

The Tamil Nadu and Chennai Theatre Owners Associations were shocked when they found out that some theatre owners had petitioned the Tamil Nadu government to allow them operate a bar in the theatre premises. The Theatre Owners Association made it clear that no decision regarding bar facilities in theatres were made at the general body meeting.

The theatre owners have requested the chief minister M Karunanidhi and DCM Stalin not to consider the request because it would deter the family audience from visiting the theatres.
