Unnaipol Oruvan on screen today

The High Court of Madras has ordered the release of Unnaipol Oruvan, however, with some restrictions. Justice Rajasuriya on hearing the defendants’ (Raaj Kamal Films International) plea said that if the court ordered a stay on the release of Unnaipol Oruvan they would suffer a loss of Rs. 40 crores and several families depending on the film’s release would be affected.

The defendants, Kamal Haasan and Chandra Haasan, also averred that they did not violate the contractual obligations as stated by the petitioners Pyramid Saimira and did not make any promises that they would pay Rs. 7.82 lakhs before the release of Unnaipol Oruvan.

The judge held that the defendants could go ahead with the release on September 18th but should pay the court half the suit amount on or before October 1st until the case is settled. Failure to pay the amount can attract a stay order on the film’s screening.

Unnai Pol Oruvan Release date?

If the latest buzz is anything to go by, Kamal’s Unnaipol Oruvan is facing a postponement of release date. The movie was earlier supposed to be released on August 12, that being a special date for Kamal as his debut Kalathur Kannamma hit the screens on the same date way back in 1959.

Now the delay is attributed to the pending post production works that’s being carried out. Sources close to the unit mention that although dubbing is on it would be another few weeks when the movie is ready to be released. An official announcement in this regard is awaited.
