Shruti is on cloud nine these days over a phone call. Her work for the recently released Kamal movie Unnaipol Oruvan is appreciated by none other than maestro Ilayaraja. Raja called her up to congratulate on Unnaipol Oruvan’s score and songs.

On the other hand, her acting debut did not go down well at the box office and her work was panned by critics. Well you know what. May be we think this is your calling girl.

Ameer's speech on Yogi

The hero of the film ‘Yogi’ speaks his mind on the delay in completing the project and the huge expense incurred for this project.

Ameer said that everyone is asking the same question and one has to experience it to know the hardships faced. The director-turned-actor laments on the difficulties the unit confronted in getting permission to shoot in Chennai.

A few minutes walk in the Chennai City Center alone cost a few lakhs, he said. The Corporation of Chennai which refused initial permission for the shooting, later agreed for Rs. 40,000 for one hour. After getting permission, the authorities denied clearance to shoot in the day time and asked the team to shoot at night. This scene alone took five hours, complains Ameer. Similarly, the shops also charged exorbitant amount. The toilet scene was shot at the Satyam theatre complex which was again charged and this is the reason for the high production cost, states the director.

The movie is expected to be released for Diwali.

Speaking on music director Yuvan Shankar Raja, Ameer was all praises for him and he called him a ‘modern Illayarajaa’. Ameer says that the composer is able to bring the mood into the song. Yogi will have four songs out of which one is a promotional song.

Ameer has rendered his voice for one song in Yogi. Though this is not the first time the director will sing; as in his earlier venture Paruthiveeran, Ameer has lent his voice. Snehan also has voiced a song starting with the lyrics, ‘Seermevum Koovathila’. Ameer also said that Yuvan has composed only one tune per song as always and this has worked out in Yogi too.

Bhagyaraj insistence… Ilayaraja’s refusal… in the past..

Pugaippadam’s audio launch and trailer release function was held at the Satyam Cinemas today. While audio and trailer was released by Bhagyaraj, director Mahendran was the one to receive it.

The film is about a group of friends which will take us down in our memory lane. Pugaippadam’s director Rajesh Lingam, an erstwhile assistant to Selvaraghavan said that the film will have an impact on the audiences’ lives.

Bhagyaraj recounted one of his experiences while addressing the gathering. He said that after the astounding success of Mouna Geethangal and Suvarilladha Chithirangal, he approached AVM Productions to produce his next venture. The producers were keen on roping in Ilayaraja to score the music but Bhagyaraj preferred Gangai Amaran, as his two earlier ventures proved to be a hit. On the producers’ insistence Gangai Amaran decided to quit from the film but when Bhagyaraj finally approached Ilayaraja he refused to work in the film as he was not the first choice. The actor-director recounted that this experience of egoism still remains fresh in his mind.

Aayirathil Oruvan’s producer Raveendran was also present at the function. He recalled that both Rajesh Lingam and Manikandan would visit the sets of AO every now and then. Comparing all the producers to ships, Raveendran said that every producer is keen on the developments of another producer. He ended the speech that he would fervently pray to God that all the ships should reach the shore safely.
