Two birthdays in Kollywood

Kollywood witnessed two birthdays today - Producer Sivasakthi Pandian and Alex. While the former was greeted by Radha Ravi, Associates from the PRO Council including Vijaya Murali, Diamond Babu, Tulasi Palanivel and Singaravel wished Alex on his birthday.

Vijay's Appology

Vijay issued an unconditional apology today with regard to the Sivakasi issue that was dragged to the court earlier by a section of lawyers. They alleged that Vijay made disparaging remarks about the profession in his movie and demanded that he apologize for the denigration.

Putting an end to the dispute that went for months, Vijay today apologized in a letter through his lawyer. He mentioned that he had no intention to hurt the sentiments of the professional lawyers and that he infact had portrayed a lawyer’s role in his movie Tamizhan. Besides, the letter also stated that the scenes deemed contentious by the lawyers were removed from the movie while it was still playing in theaters.

Malayalam Actor Murali died

Malayalam actor Murali, who is best known for his powerful roles in both Malayalam and Tamil movies passed away today at a private hospital in Trivandrum, Kerala. Murali was admitted to the hospital a few days ago following health issues. He breathed his last around 8.00 p.m. at the hospital. The 55 year old actor is survived by his wife and a daughter.

During his career, Murali received numerous awards, significant of them being the Kerala State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for the movie Amaram and the National award for Best Actor for Neythukaran in 2002.
