Vijay's case on court

Several advocate across the state have filed petitions against Vijay, director Perarasu, producer AM Rathnam and actor Bhaskar for the slanderous statement made about the lawyers in their film Sivakasi. Following this, the magistrates of several courts issued summons to all those concerned. Some courts also issued warrants against the defendants.

Vijay, Perarasu, AM Rathnam and Bhaskar had filed a petition in the High Court of Madras pleading that the case does not fall under the purview of Criminal Procedure Code. The petitioners also alleged that the magistrate courts did not issue summons to them before the warrants.

The High Court stayed all proceedings in the magistrate courts pertaining to this case and ordered the Bar Council, the Women Lawyers’ Association and High Court Advocates Association for a counter. The case is expected to be disposed on July 3rd.

Perarasu’s transformation

Looks like director Perarasu might have to give up on his naming spree. Known for his fondness in naming his movies after places in Tamil Nadu, he has decided Thirumangalam to be the title of his next movie with Bharath in the lead. As bad luck would have it, another title resembling the same name has been already registered in the council by Rajkiran, Thirumangalathil Yaanai.

Following this, breaking away from his naming tradition, Perarasu’s next movie with Bharath will be called Murasu.
