Suriya’s avatars for Singam

News about Hari - Suriya’s cop flick Singam seems to be attracting the focus of media every now and then. Now that it’s established that Suriya will be playing a police officer, latest in the series is that Suriya’s role will have both urban and rural shades in it. Besides, we hear wind of the fact that Suriya is asked to put on some weight by the director to suit the character.

Hari's sentiments for Surya

Hari is known for sticking to his sentiments as far as his films are concerned. Even for the Vikram starrer Saamy, Hari has used posters of Vikram in a police officer’s uniform wielding an Aruval. It is well known that the director also sets his stories in a specific location.

This time around, for his Suriya starrer Singam, Hari will probably let go off his sentiment! Touted to be a police story, Singam is set in both city as well as village. Further, the director has decided not to use the Aruval sentiment in the film. Wonder how this commercial potboiler will fare with the audience without the usual Hari sentiments.

Surya becomes singer

Music directors, nowadays, are keen on having the film heroes croon to their music. Though this is an age-old trend, which was put in cold storage for a few decades, it is being revived by the current generation of music directors.

The latest to join the bandwagon is Devi Sri Prasad. He had Vikram sing all the songs in Kanthaswamy and has made the album a real success. In fact, songs rendered by the heroes tend to give the film that extra leverage during publicity.

Devi Sri Prasad intends to repeat the magic in the Hari-directed Singam. Yes, he is in talks with Suriya to have him sing a song in his composition. Suriya is also said to give the go ahead.
